Kumasi, March 9, GNA – The Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has entreated pastors to be selfless and demonstrate tenacity of purpose in their work to grow the church.
Like the early missionaries, who braced all odds to proclaim the gospel, it behoved the current generation of pastors to work tirelessly, in whatever circumstances they found themselves, to achieve the goal of saving mankind from evil and maintain a just and disciplined society.
Rt Rev Prof Martey was delivering the sermon at a service to celebrate the elevation of the Kwaso Presbyterian Church, in the Ejisu-Juaben municipality, into full district status.
The Moderator reminded the congregation that the new status comes with its own challenges and difficulties and asked the leadership to act firmly to ensure the development of the church.
They should make good use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to reach out to more people to enhance Presbyterianism.
Rt Rev Prof Martey said it was important they also strengthened, the Youth Ministry, to help nurture a generation of Christians, who would lead society to reject all forms of indiscipline.
Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the PCG, called on the Kwaso church to intensify evangelism to increase membership and win souls for Christ.
He lauded the church for working hard to attain its new status and urged the church to remain united in the “body of Christ.”
